Consultation Summary

Cormac Solutions Ltd, on behalf of Cornwall Council, is proposing to extend the footway on Chenhalls Road in St Erth Village.

As a consequence of the St Erth Multi Modal Hub, Cornwall Council is committed to working with St Erth Parish Council to look at addressing concerns from local residents on transport issues affecting the village and to reduce the speed of vehicles travelling through the village which in turn will improve the safety of all road users.
Cormac Solutions Ltd have proposed a number of highway improvements throughout the village to address the concerns of the local residents. Cornwall Council and St Erth Parish Council have selected their preferred improvements to be developed and then constructed.

Scheme Objectives

The proposed changes to Chenhalls Road have been revised from the previous consultation. The aim is to create a pinch point, or build-out, to help maintain slow speeds on this part of Chenhalls Road. Part of the new footway will be constructed on the build-out. Traffic passing the build-out will be reduced to single file, with priority given to southbound vehicles.
We no longer propose to construct the flat top road hump that was shown on previous drawings, thereby reducing noise and vibration for local residents.  In addition, instead of speed cushions, 20mph roundel markings will be painted on the road surface.
The 20mph Zone and the other parts of the village improvements scheme are still going ahead as planned.
