Consultation Summary

The aim of the consultation survey is to establish a baseline to then raise awareness of the European Union (EU), revised Bathing Water Directive (rBWD) amongst the population of the Sefton coast. Public engagement will follow using the Sefton 'Love my Beach' campaign, outlining the risks presented to Sefton's bathing water and the opportunities - including the community's desire for future quality.

Sefton Council is working in partnership to deliver the campaign 'Love my Beach' aiming at improving the quality of bathing waters along the Sefton coast. Sefton 'Love my Beach' campaign is an opportunity to contribute to a national scheme to raise awareness of bathing water quality.

Consultation Purpose

The purpose of the survey is to consult and engage with the local population using a survey that will be available electronically and in hard copy. The anonymised results from the survey will give the project a baseline to then raise awareness of the key issues that can affect the bathing water quality of Sefton's coastline and deliver 'Love my Beach', a positive campaign to Sefton residents, visitors and businesses informing them of how they can have an impact on water quality, both as a visitor to their local beach and also by the actions they take in their own homes. The survey will be revisited at a later date to help evaluate the campaign's progress.
